This might sound like a rather controversial thing to say considering the hype surrounding MW2 but looking at the game with fresh eyes I realise that I really do prefer WaW. Although WaW may as well just be MW with a World War II theme I just think that it has such a better, simpler feel to it. The guns are all unique in their own way and each one may as well have it's own personality, in MW all the guns just look the same to me. WaW seems to encompass the essence of a true war game to me with it's gritty graphics and violence, MW just comes across as a futuristic more realistic Halo.

These are all (obviously) just my opinions & I'm probably going to be crucified by MW2 fanboys saying how it is the greatest game ever made and God actually did the programming but does anyone feel the same way I do or am I insane?

I couldn't agree more. I know what you are saying and as soon as I played my very first game on MW2, I said to mysely that it doesn't feel right. Then I played another and said this is the biggest overrated, piece of sh*t I have ever played! WAW really was the defining game in the Call Of Duty series and I really think that Infinity Ward rushed MW2. I mean it seams like everything in the game has something wrong with it in it's own unique way. WAW is just right! Everything in it feels right!

Well back then ago,I was a fanboy for Waw.I loved the weapons,maps,etc.. Then I bought Cod4 and I liked it.As soon as I watched and watched Mw2 videos on youtube,I felt like it was gonna be better than all of the Call of duty titles.Modern Warfare 2 has 2 months of old and you prefer Waw?
Well its your opinion,I respect it.I like Modern Warfare 2 because of this:
storyline,weapons,killstreaks.Although I dont like all the Maps,I still prefer it better than Waw and any other Call of duty title(For now of course).Maybe you will preferred Call of duty 7 better than WaW.

It's not as if I think that MW2 is a bad game. Not in the slightest. The killstreaks and story are miles better than WaW and an ape could see that. I just don't like the feel of it. I dunno, I just prefer the atmosphere and gritty graphics of WaW along with the weapons. I know the MW2 weapons are real but playing with them after WaW they feel like something you'd stumble across in Halo. Not to mention the fact that WaW has zombies. I'm glad you respect my opinion though and didn't go all MW2 fanboy on me ha, ha!

Of course.I totally understand you.Zombies was the only reason I did played WaW. I did not enjoy the multiplayer so much but I was 6 prestige level 58.Zombies has a great story and maybe one of the most awesome game modes I have ever played.The storyline drags you!It is very addicted.But Mw2 also has Spec Ops mode,which is good I think.(I give it about 8-10)There are no special achievements and all of the storyline looks a lot like the campaign selection.Now the multiplayer in Mw2 is awesome.(Give it about 10-10 !!!) WaW was a great game for me but I did not enjoyed it so much.The killstreaks were always the same(Recon,Airstrike,Dogs),the weapons were barely strong,and the perks were not the ones I needed at the time.You know what I mean?

World At War has become a better game, no joke whatsoever. The dropshotters/"MLG players"/MP40 sprayers have moved on to Modern Warfare 2. So WaW is now the good game. I'm excited for when those players leave MW2. Then I can actually ENJOY the online, instead of yelling like the average preacher (those dudes r b nuts).

i agree i love MW2 but waw was the best better than MW2 the guns do just look the same....... in WaW all the guns do like have their own personality and WaW does have a good simple war feeling to sum it up i agree

I tried WaW once again. I did not like it at all. The weapons are way different than MW2's. Too many n00bs... I still like MW2 though.

Machine guns = MG4 vs MG42
Sub machine guns = UMP 45 vs mp40
Rifles = FAL vs M1A1 Carbine
Assault rifles = ACR vs STG 44

Maps = Wasteland vs Seelow

Equipment = Flash grenade vs Tabun gas?

I agree. There are only really experienced people left playing it so apart from games been more challenging everyone uses different guns. I'm not saying I dislike MW2 I just think it's incredibly overrated and over complicated. If anything it's become a victim of it's own success and has tried to hard to distance itself from the first one. Plus the fact that I really do prefer the WW2 era to all this modern terrorist related stuff.

That's weird, whilst I was waiting for this to load I was thinking "this is daft, MW2 kicks WAW ass" but looking at your comparisons I'm not so sure;

Snipers, meh, probably Barret with Bling is better because of the attachments
Machine Guns - MG42 is my baby
MP40 - kicked the ass of every gun in WAW therefore wins in my eyes
again, M1A1 kicked ass in WAW
Tried the ACR on my mates PS3 on Sunday (haven't unlocked it yet). I don't like it. Far too weak, you'd do more damage chucking the used cartridges at the enemy, that's why there's no recoil -STG44
I hate wasteland, seelow I could kinda deal with.

Having said that I still choose MW2 as I enjoy it more. Weird.

WAW I still like because it is gritier. It is gory and the characters curse more ( and they're funny. I'm A F****** BADA**!!!!!)

Alot of people seem to say that. They enjoy think all of the add-ons to MW2 but they enjoyed playing WaW alot more.

Hey, this is pretty similar to my topic. Oh well, you know my opinion on MW2. I haven't played it enough the memorise gun names or whatever. The guns in WaW come across as being more unique to me. All the weapons look different and in MW2 I can barely tell them apart. I also like the grittier aspect of WaW with it's gore and general darker atmosphere.

I would have to go with the Barret on this one as with the different add ons you can equip in MW2 make this gun pretty beast.
When I use the MG4 I just don't get the the feeling I used to when I was tearing apart my enemies with an MG42.
Its close but I'm going with UMP on this one as it was the first gun I used in MW2 and I still use it over any other sub machine guns. Plus I remember many a people getting cheap kills off of me with the MP40 so...
M1A1 carbine all the way..
Huh kind of not sure on this one as I don't like either gun but I used the STG-44 more than the ACR.

I like the toughness of WAW, the arms and legs flying off. gave more of a serious feel then MW2 does, I feel the call signs take away from any seriousneses.
